We all remember the iconic moment when Brandi Chastain scored the World Cup winner for the United States at the Rose Bowl in 1999, but women's professional soccer has struggled to get a foothold in Los Angeles since then. But with the success of LAFC on the men's side, the great strides the NWSL has made over the last several years, and the amazing social media campaign of #BringNWSLtoLA, soccer is coming back starting in 2022. As befits Los Angeles there are huge stars supporting the team, and big money as well, following the model of LAFC. I certainly will be watching the Challenge Cup finish up this week, and can't wait to grab an Angel City jersey and watch the team start playing with my sons soon - and I have a feeling I'll be joined by tens of thousands of my fellow Angelenos when it happens.
