After way too long, way too many interviews, and way too much waiting, Kim Ng is finally a GM of a professional baseball team. This shows the unfortunate reality in professional sports - for women to reach these levels, they must be overqualified - but hopefully as they take over these positions of authority, they also get the same opportunity to succeed, and the same time to do so, that male executives have gotten forever.

It’s likely that Ng is the most overqualified person to ever become a first-time general manager in baseball. She brings 30 years of experience to the job — my entire lifetime. She has been closely involved with baseball since the year I was born. Now, finally, she will be the first female GM.
