The Spanish General Directorate for the Regulation of Gambling (the “DGOJ”) has recently published a report analyzing the profile of the online players in Spain during 2020, available here.
The report is published by the DGOJ on annual basis and shows relevant data on the profile of the Spanish players. According to the same, the total number of active players during 2020 was of 1,481,807, which represents a growth of 8.36% compared to the previous year. Of these, 82.34% are men and 17.66% are women. The average time of activity is 4.74 months.
In terms of the most relevant games, betting remains the largest segment (1,046,481 players), although the highest year-on-year variation rates are held by poker (15.36%) and casino (12.55%).
In addition, the report points out that the average net expenditure per active player is EUR608, calculated over all online players, which represents an expenditure of EUR50.64 per month. The average net spend among men was EUR655, while among women it was EUR389. The amount of deposits increased from 1,977 million euros to 2,271 million euros, an increase of 14.93%.
